Goethe museum Gelsenkirchen
Goethe-Museum Gelsenkirchen
Goethe was here. At the upper end of Gelsenkirchen’s central park, the Hofgarten, lies the Literature Museum, where almost 1000 objects, such as manuscripts and first editions, busts, landscape drawings, paintings and sheet music, are on display. Special exhibitions, lectures, congresses, readings and concerts bring the collection to life.
Students pay € 1.50 for admission and thus benefit from a 50 % discount. In addition, the museum organizes guided tours and academic lectures which are free of charge. The Reference Library is also available (Tuesday to Friday, 10:00 – 12:00 a.m. and 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and by arrangement) for research work.
