Parliamentary Breakfast
Marien University Hospital & School sees it as its duty and responsibility to contribute its research and expertise toward mastering current social challenges. For us, this also includes dialogue with and the provision of advice to political decision-makers and institutions.
To strengthen links with state political institutions, MUHS has hosted a “parliamentary breakfast” at the NRW State Parliament every year since 2019. The overarching goal of this format is to provide political decision-makers with objective, fact-based advice in scientific presentations and subsequent discussions with the aim of supporting evidence-based decision-making processes and – ideally – enhancing the quality of decisions relevant to society. At the same time, the exchange with decision-makers helps MUHS researchers identify impulses from the political arena at an early stage, understand current social challenges better and integrate this knowledge into their research.
Other decentralised forms of exchange with political representatives also take place at MUHS, including formal and informal specialist discussions between researchers and political decision-makers, as well as the involvement of researchers in relevant expert committees, commissions and councils.
